An Unexpected Encounter with Jesus

When Jesus was 12 years old his mother and father were travelling home from the festival in Jerusalem when they realised Jesus was not with them. They had left behind the son of God! Three days later they unexpectedly found Jesus at the temple in discussions with the teachers, who were all amazed! Jesus then told his parents that they should have known he would be ‘in my father’s house’. You can read about this in Luke 2.41-52. For a full day Joseph and Mary has no idea that the son of God was no longer with them. We too can sometimes ‘go on ahead without Jesus’ when we go our own way or make bad decisions. When this happens what can we do and how might we avoid making this mistake in the first place?
