FAQs

Why give?

Living generously is a core part of who we are as followers of Jesus. We give to those in need as well as giving to the storehouse in order to see God's blessing and provision extended beyond ourselves.

What's the best way to give?

We truly appreciate each and every financial gift that we receive. For members of Living Rock Church we recommend setting up a regular standing order for your giving as it helps us plan ahead and budget well. You can read more about how to do this below.

How do I make a one-off donation?

You can make a one-off donation by using our bank details or by giving with cash in person.

What is Gift Aid and how can I add it to my giving?

Gift Aid allows UK charities to claim back the basic rate tax already paid on donations – by the donor – from HMRC. If you are a UK taxpayer and have paid, or will pay, sufficient income or capital gains tax, Gift Aid increases the value of your donations by 25%, so it means that your gift goes even further – and won’t cost you extra. You can complete a Gift Aid Declaration online or in person on the back of our giving envelopes.

How should I categorise my giving?

The 2 most common ways that most people categorise their giving is by marking it as "tithe" or "offering". We also have a Building Fund that you can give into. If you'd like your financial gift to be used for something specific you can mark it as "other" and specifiy what it is for either via email or on your giving envelope,.

What's the difference between tithes and offerings?

We treat tithes and offerings as separate amounts in our giving.

We read throughout scripture the principle of 'bringing the tithe' to The Lord, as an act of obedience and worship. The tithe is literally 10% of what we have/earn, before anything goes out (including tax).

Our offering is over and above the tithe. We give an offering because we want to, not out of duty or obedience in the same way as the tithe, but because we want to be abundant and generous in our giving.

How will my gift be used?

We use tithe income for people - mostly salaries and financial gifts to those in need. We use offering income for everything else - projects, property, running costs, events and initiatives.

Can I get a copy of my giving statement?

You can request a giving statement any time by sending an email to giving@livingrock.church.

Can I give via cash or cheque?

Yes, we have giving envelopes available in each of our locations to allow people to give in person. Please make cheques payable to Living Rock Church and mark clearly on the envelope what your gift is for.

What biblical references do you use for giving?

Some of the key verses we read that influences our view on giving include 2 Corinthians 9:6-11, Deuteronomy 14:23 and Malachi 3:10. We also read throughout scripture of a God who is generous and blesses us, Jesus who gives abundantly and a church who meets the needs of those around them.
