Welcome to this week's Daily Bread. We're looking forward to diving into God's Word together. Below you'll find a range of resources designed to help you get the most out of this week's readings. Monday Meditation
Mondays are about making time not just to read but to prayerfully think and consider the Scripture you're reading. Read through it a few times, slowly and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you.
Pause and Ponder - In Joel 2:28 and Acts 2:17 it was prophesied that God would pour our His Holy Spirit and people would prophecy, see visions and dream dreams. In Habakkuk 2 we get an excellent blueprint on how to receive and handle revelations from God.
Habakkuk 2:1 - We must first stand on our watch regularly. Which means we take time preferably when it is very quiet to wait on God in prayer and listen to Him to receive revelations from Him.
Habakkuk 2:2 - Secondly, when He speaks either during our prayer watch or in dreams, vision or prophecy, we need to take our time to write it down clearly so that we or anyone it is for can easily and quickly read it and act on it.
Habakkuk 2:3 - You or whoever a vision, dream or prophecy needs to learn to be patient. Revelations have an appointed time for their fulfillment. It is at the end (the fulfillment) that vision speaks the loudest. Even when it looks like it is taking longer than you expected, keep waiting patiently and earnestly for it. Trumpet Tuesday
Tuesday's focus is on the major prophets in the Scripture. Full of imagery, promises and challenge. The context of prophetic writing is very important. Understanding who they were writing to and what was happening to God's people at the time will help us to apply these writings today.
Wednesday Wisdom
The book of James tells us that if any of us lack wisdom we can ask for it and God will give it to us. As we read the wisdom literature in the Bible let's trust God is going to teach us what His wisdom looks like.
Pause and Ponder - Proverbs 9 is a fitting conclusion to the previous 8 chapters, showing the two paths that Wisdom and Folly will ultimately lead down. We have two invitations of how to live our life and one choice to make. The foolish are heading towards death but do not know it, yet Wisdom offers life and understanding. We need to be humble and prudent, asking God for wisdom (Proverbs 2:6). - Matthew Pemberton, LRC Market Harborough
Thanksgiving Thursday
The Psalms are full of human emotion, some full of rejoicing and joy, others confusion and questions. All of them agree though, whatever the circumstances, God must be praised! Let's join our voices with the psalmists on these days to praise whatever our circumstances.
Friday Feast
The practice of reading big chunks of Scripture is really helpful when understanding the context of what is happening in the stories. If finding time to read all of this in one go is difficult maybe break it into a smaller times of reading through the day.

Simple Sunday
For centuries Scripture has been predominantly read amongst families and community. In recent times reading the Bible and praying has gained a more personal focus. On these days where possible, why not read these Scriptures out loud and with others? Pray and reflect on God's Word together.
Pause and Ponder - Luke 23-24 reminds us of the unimaginable sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. Despite the mocking, rejection, and suffering He endured; He willingly gave His life out of love for us. It’s a great passage to challenge us not to take this truth for granted as we mature as Christians. After the resurrection we are shown the beautiful patience and compassion that is Jesus’ character. His response to Thomas encourages us to move toward Him in our moments of doubt, allowing us to be touched by his presence. - Juliet Pemberton, LRC Market Harborough
